Couch Surf Summer

Couch Surf Summer

It’s the same old story and the same old song then the band breaks up, but the beat goes on. Been a long time coming but you lost your way on a couch surf summer but it’s all OK. So you swallowed down the medicine and held your breath and you found a Never-Never land you won’t forget.

Where the style is a smile twenty miles wide. Take a ride; if you like and we can meet up on a cloud tonight it’s only real if it can fall apart. Better party like a rock star running from police cars tagging up the courthouse someone turned the lights out Johnny took the wrong route rolling with the bad crowd. Slingshot shooting down a dead-end street where the kids huff whippets in the concrete heat. Got your box car angel and your jug of wine. Just a train track penny moving down the line. (Just a train track penny moving down the line.)

Chorus

In the age of everything, there’s nowhere left to go. Picture-perfect pretty things all lined up in a row. Let your hair down shake the walls that cage around your mind. Used to think I’d seen it all, learned I was wrong the day I left the world behind.

Met the cowboy comet in the spiral sky and the sunshine prophet on a mountain high. You can buy that ticket but it all depends where your luck winds up when the highway ends. They say, “Take warning ‘cause you’re too far gone”, tick-tocking like a clockwork orange. Last petal says she loves me not, as it drops, how I rock, you’ll find me dancing with the polka dots. Full swing circle as it bends and flows but a little dose of love makes the garden grow. There’s a golden valley at the break of dawn and the wheel’s on fire but it rolls along.

Chorus

We passed by the passer by passing by five guys getting high on the highway side flying signs, trying to hitch a ride back to Telluride by the sunrise, Little Miss Big Time burned by the limelight. Best summer ever, I’m remembered as the highlight.
