The Boy in the Bottle

The Boy in the Bottle

Dear Mother, hello from happy hour, I’m having drinks in the corner alone.

Half tipsy is when he comes to meet me; he looks like someone you probably know.

But he’s so charming, he’s so slick, he’s witty with the ladies and they can’t resist.

So, there’s the plot, now here’s the twist, when I pop that top, then his lid will flip.

He makes his entrance down the twelve steps in my mind and takes a seat beside his partner in crime.

When I go out, he buys the rounds until I cross the line.

Between little old me and the boy in the bottle he’s the kind of guy who goes all night.

Yeah, he comes out swinging; he doesn't know his limits. I've got an evil twin and he’s making my decisions

and they say, “sit down ‘cause you’re rocking the boat”, but we can’t stop here when there’s one too many to go.

Fast talking, the alcohol is flowing; he’s picking fights with whoever’s around.

Takes gambles on more than he can handle, he’s all dressed up and he’s ready to drown.

He’s just a part of me, sometimes it ain't so bad. A personality that always splits the tab.

When I go out, he buys the rounds until I cross the line.

Between little old me and the boy in the bottle he’s the devil walking by my side, yeah, yeah.

Well he won’t stop knocking, they say he’s got a problem; the glass half full ‘til I find him at the bottom

and they say “sit down cause’ you’re rocking the boat”, but we can’t stop here when there’s one too many to go.

He’s always close behind but takes it all too far and when you think he’s finally had his fill he’s coming back for more.

Now he’s hijacking the wagon down the wrong side of the road.

He’s just a shadow that I like to call my own.

When I go out, he buys the rounds until I cross the line.

Between little old me and the boy in the bottle there’ll be trouble if the two collide.

When you can’t get sober, he’ll make you have another…the laughter in your ear when you’re waking up hung over

and they say, “sit down ‘cause you’re rocking the boat”, but we can’t stop here when there’s one too many to go.
